De “winterslaap” van dax magazine zet zich voort in 2011. Marktonderzoek toont aan dat er nog onvoldoende economische zekerheid is om de productie van het magazine opnieuw te beginnen. Het dax magazine is een kennisintensieve productie, met een daaraan gerelateerd budget. De kwaliteit van informatie mag niet lijden onder een te krappe budgettering. Daarom is besloten om de uitgave van dax magazine andermaal uit te stellen.
The publication of dax magazine - as announced on this page earlier this year - has been postponed. Thorough market research shows unsuficient grounds for solid sponsoring of an academic production like dax magazine. Creating the magazine takes a lot of research and is labour-intensive. We strive for the highest quality of information and therefor will not make any concessions in the light of too stringent budgets. At the end of this year we will repeat our market research and make plans for 2012 according to its results.

It is estimated that in the Netherlands about 7.000 primary schools do not meet the current requirements of health and safety. Analysis of the market, government policies and design strategies are researched, as well as succesful refurbishments of primary schools in Europe. Volgens recent onderzoek voldoen ongeveer 7000 basisscholen in Nederland niet aan de huidige eisen voor klimaat en veiligheid. Veel Europese landen laten een vergelijkbaar beeld zien. Renovatie is dan een optie voor verbetering. Op dit moment wordt gewerkt aan een analyse van de markt, een studie van het standpunt van de overheid en een onderzoek naar mogelijke architectonische strategieën. Bovendien worden succesvolle renovaties in woord en beeld, tot in het detail bestudeerd. |

Our editors-in-chief are able to give that global view, given their commitment to their architectural firm in the Netherlands, their work at the University in Boston and the various assignments that take them to other continents such as booming Asia. It wouldn't be a dax magazine if we wouldn't explain this theme to the very detail of the city, its public and private urban space and buildings. Deze editie van dax magazine heeft een internationaal thema, want over de gehele wordt (met verschillende aanleidingen) geworsteld met de thema's duurzame stedenbouw en duurzame verdichting. Onze gasthoofdredactie kan die wereldwijde insteek rechtvaardigen, want behalve hun architectenbureau in Amsterdam hebben ze een leerstoel aan de University of Boston en reizen ze regelmatig naar de uithoeken van de wereld, waaronder booming Azië. Natuurlijk gaan we -zoals dax magazine dat altijd deed en doet - alles uitzoeken tot op het detail. Het detail van de stad, de openbare en private ruimten en de gebouwen die het ritme bepalen. |
